Don's shop is in the basement of his home. Although it appears cluttered, it is organized to a point that he can lay his hand on a particular tool in the dark. Many hours are spent here in pursuit of advancing the knifemaker's craft. A brief look at some of the equipment he uses follows.

Rockwell Hardness Tester

A Rockwell hardness tester is on the workbench at the right. On the left, a granite surface plate, and in the middle, a number of jobs in process, each in its own tray.

2x72 Belt Grinder

At one end of the main bench is the Burr King variable speed belt grinder. Knives can be made without one, but they take a whole lot longer. A wastebasket has been adapted as a funnel for the blue dust collector in the background.
